MICHEL PIERRE LACHANCE

La notion de perception et la manière dont la lumière et la couleur se comportent m’ont toujours fascinée, que ce soit lors de mes études en architecture ou en sciences ou lors de mes voyages. L’expérience de cette lumière dans les pays visités (...France, Maroc, Inde) m’a d’ailleurs profondément marqué par leurs différences. La lumière est donc devenue, pour moi, un sujet d’étude privilégié.

Quand je peins, je cherche à exprimer la profondeur et la transparence de l’espace dans la verticalité du tableau. Couleurs, tonalités, superpositions, lignes et bandes deviennent alors les éléments essentiels de mon expérimentation pour mettre en valeur les subtilités de la lumière et la perspective de cet espace.

Michel Pierre Lachance est architecte et enseigne le design d’intérieur au Collège Marie-Victorin à Montréal. Il a entrepris professionnellement sa carrière d’artiste peintre depuis 2002 et fait partie de collection privée et publique dont le Musée de Sherbrooke.

My travels, my readings, and my studies in science and architecture have had a significant influence on my fascination with and my understanding of light and colors. I have also become profoundly aware of the process of perception noticing the differences between the lights of the countries I have visited – France, Morocco and India.

My work has become a type of ongoing research into the special effects of light. While I am painting, my goal is to create a sense of depth in this vertical plane. Transparency and space become the essentials. Perspective appears in many ways: through tints, tones, colors, overlapping, and through play with lines and stripes.

Michel Pierre Lachance is an architect, teaching interior design at College Marie-Victorin in Montreal. He began his career in painting as a professional artist in 2002 and his work is now part of private and public collection such as Museum of Sherbrooke.
